Razgate is an Italian thrash metal band formed in 2012 and inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and others from the NWOBHM. In 2014, the band released their first four-track EP Countdown To The End which had a music style of genuine melodic central parts and relatively simple song structures. On the whole, the sound of the EP was quite raw. The reason I mention this, is because Razgate’s new album, Feral Evolution, shows a creative and collaborative progression within the band, raising them to a whole new level of thrashing mayhem.
Feral Evolution is the the debut album from Razgate and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Razgate and Riccardo Cherubini in collaboration with BPA Studios by Francesco Riganelli. The thrash metal influence of the Bay Area has made heavy changes to style of the band and this album sounds very different to the aforementioned EP. The guitars are bigger and the drums more powerful, both pushing and expanding the sound in equal measure. All the songs were written by Giacomo Burgassi (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Edoardo Natalini (drums) with the main themes of the lyrics (completely written by Giacomo Burgassi) being mind control, madness and war.
