Well, friends…we are back with the resuming of our series! We took a few days off due to some unforeseen technical issues but, as I said, we’re back and things are progressing right along. Our friends from The Yellowhammer State, Alabama’s Ember, have wrapped the recording at Ledbelly Sound Studio portion of the series. That means starting tonight, we are going to get a fresh, new look at some other things connected to it.

While our atmospheric-tinged doom musicians absorb the demos from their time in the studio, life goes on in other aspects. First, Erik Bigelow breaks down some details of the ongoing contests Ember have been running of late. In one clip, we are apprised of the Limited Edition Box sets (ten in total) and what it takes to be entered to win one.

We are also treated to being present for some glimpses of a recent Ember live show where Erik (drums), vocalist Crystal Bigelow, guitarist Craig Shadix and bassist Jeremy Allen take the stage. As most know, that’s where the music of “271” is road tested so to speak.

Another interesting portion of tonight’s segment is the detailed breakdown from Erik working on the artwork for the EP. We get a bird’s-eye view of several of the applications being utilized to create the art and visual packaging of the upcoming release as well.

There, you are all caught up as to where tonight’s latest insights will take us as our visual journey now continues. Hello, All! Welcome back to Episode 3 of our ongoing series with Alabama-based atmospheric doomers, Ember. They have been ensconced within the walls of Ledbelly Sound Studio in the State of Georgia working on their new EP for Doomsayer Records. That EP, titled “271” will be released before year’s end and we are right in the middle of seeing it being brought to vivid, sonic life right before our very eyes.

In today’s look-in, we see the lighter side of our somber musicians, vocalist Crystal Bigelow, drummer Erik Bigelow, bassist Jeremy Allen and guitarist Craig Shadix surface as they work. Speaking of which, we see some nice footage of the band’s new guitarist, Craig, contributing his part to the process. This is the band’s first recording with Craig but I have no doubt whatsoever that he, the band and studio engineer, Matt Washburn, are making bona-fide magic here!

So, you’re all caught up…now come behold the last stage of the musicians playing the music needed to record “271“. From here, things will go into post with the mixing, mastering and other components we will see more of in Episodes 4 – 6. Yet for now, welcome to the Riff Relevant Presents: Ember “271” EP Recording In-Studio Visual Series: Episode 3*!

Be here Weds. September 13th for Part 4! Make sure not to miss Episode 1 here and Episode 2 here.

Presents Ember 271 EP Recording In Studio Visual Series Episode

We have arrived at our second insightful glimpse into Ledbelly Sound Studio as our audio heavy heroes from Birmingham, AL. continue to record. Ember, aka guitarist Craig Shadix, drummer Erik Bigelow, vocalist Crystal Bigelow and bassist Jeremy Allen, continue to bring their “271” EP to life. Set for release through Doomsayer Records this fall, we are along for the ride via the all-seeing electric eye as the music manifests.

Viewers see more of the actual studio process of the band at work under the directive auspices of Matt Washburn. In those series of events, the power of the riff itself guides the narrative as you experience the birth pangs of doom itself. Yet once that partial metamorphosis takes place, we get to see some of the rustic tranquility that Ledbelly Sound Studio and its surroundings provide for its client’s wind-down time too.

Beyond that, our fearless foursome reveal more of the glitzy rock n’ roll-on-the-road lifestyle. It comes as a cautionary revelation of what things may lurk within the four walls of sketchy accommodations that shall remain nameless.

One of Episode 2‘s best highlights is Crystal herself unfurling the intriguing tale behind the lyrical inspiration for “Eye Of The Dawn“. It is, of course, one of the three tracks to comprise 271 (as revealed here recently) and it has a direct connection to the EP’s artwork as well.

So, Rev’lers..this is where we are in our ongoing optical intrusion into Ember‘s current undertakings. Now, partake of the sights and sounds of the Riff Relevant Presents: Ember “271” EP Recording In-Studio Visual Series; Episode 2* Video below and then join us on Sunday, Sept. 11th for Part 3!
